Climate Change Leads To More Nasty Spiders In UK. Great.
One the eve of the release of SpiderMan 3, I thought this particular story was a fitting tribute. Granted, the spiders I'm about to mention are more likely to give you pain than superpowers, but hey, we can't all be superhero web-slingers.
According to the UK Sun newspaper, a variant of the deadly Black Widow spider is seeing its number explode across Britain. Generally kept in check by colder temps, changes in temperature and mild winters have allowed the spider to reproduce and invade gardens across the South of England and, eventually, even higher. Called the "False Widow" its bite does not kill, but does cause intense pain and severe swelling. In other words, if you hate spiders, you have another reason to fear global warming.
Such side effects of climate change are often overlooked in favor of hurricanes and other "big weather" events. However, it's important to realize that species once locked to a particular climate may now begin to favor areas once happily devoid of their existence. Take for instance the case of the deadly Irukandji jellyfish — generally found in warmer, northern Australian waters, it is now making its way down the coast as water temps increase. Tourism, recreation, etc. all stand to suffer as a result of increased numbers.
So, for those of you that see more shorts and longer tans as a result of Global Warming, have fun dealing with all the other consequences that follow. Our benign environments may soon have a bit more "venom" injected into them.

Notice that there was hardly anything in that article about the spider! Most of it was about “Climate Change”
A subliminal message maybe? Climate change is a atural thing which has been occuring since the dawn of time! Humans are reponsible for 1% of the extra CO2 in the air today. 1%!! You have to ask yourself if people over react to these things.
Has anyone ever thought that animals, insects etc. are evolving? Being able to live in cooler temps. A naturally occuring proccess due to the will to survive! Makes you think doesnt it? Are our government using the media to scare us into a faulse belief that “Global Warming” is causing a mass change our wildlife. Load of bull in my opinion.

I’m not sold on Global Warming at all but I do think that we should change our habits - I never go out anymore because I can’t walk down the road without being choked by car fumes. Just that one reason for me is enough. Also landfills being used for rubbish that won’t degrade instead of housing. Etc etc….
It makes me sad.
