Green Desires: Three-Wheel Hybrid Gets 100mpg, Two Seats

Being green doesn’t mean sacrificing style for the environment. It’s been a bit of an uphill climb for such a statement to be true, but from fashion to automobiles, we’re starting to see some great green technology come in the shell of some sexy beasts.

Take for instance the VentureOne hybrid vehicle. Technically classified as a motorcycle, this won’t fit in at your local Hell’s Angels potluck. However, it will impress your eco-friends, get you to wherever you’re going, and give you 100mpg in the process.

Current tests peg it at more than 33 times safer than a motorcycle due to its reinforced roll cage and dynamic vehicle control. It comes in three flavors; an all-electric (lithium-ion batter) with a range of about 120 miles, and two hybrid versions with fast and fastest in the 0-60 time category. If you want a comparison, the “zoom-zoom” model accelerates at roughly the same speed as a Ferrari or Lamborghini!

Prices are expected to stay under $20K for all three models. When Green Options starts looking at company cars, I’d recommend taking a look here first! Drool! Hit the site for more information and news updates for scheduled releases.

That looks very similar to a vehicle I saw on the British show Top Gear a while back. That one was Dutch and looked rather more boxy, but it had the same general shape.

I'd love to get a hybrid, but they don't seem to be very common here in New Zealand - ironic considering we're supposed to have a clean, green image.

Well, even my scooter gets 100MPG! heee!

See my idea on the Quatro-Hybrid engine….MOO-POWER based! It's at http://melayu.eu/?p=310

So… I REALLY want this car (bike). As a matter of fact, i'm trying to find out how to get on the waiting list for it. But i also appreciate a good sports car. I certainly don't have a lamborhini or ferrari, but i wanted to clarify these aren't NEARLY as fast.

The three models this comes in are 0-60 in Over 5, Over 6, and Over 8 seconds.

Even the quick one (less than 6 seconds is certainly quick) is not even hardly comparable to a supercar.

A Lamborhini Gallarado (the cheap model) does 0-60 in 3.8 seconds & the Murcielago does it in 3.3 seconds.

While a patient person may say its only the difference of a second or two - a Lamborghini is actually 40% faster.  Which means we're talking about the VentureOne being amost HALF the speed of a Lamborghini (or Ferrari).

Anyway thanks for the blog & thanks for spreading the word on what will likely prove to be the coolest (affordable) car the US has seen this millenium.
