Grow Your Own Grass Arm Chair!
With temperatures northeast hovering around 1 degree this morning, it's very easy for one's thoughts to turn to warm and green visions. In fact, let me help you with one: It's 11am and already a nice 75 degrees. You grab the morning paper (or your laptop. geek.), a fresh cup of coffee, and head outside. As you stroll past the bursting garden and the sweet lillac tree, you take a deep breath and recline onto your grass-covered arm chair perfectly shaped to your form. Sound like a fantasy? Well, if you're terrible at gardening, that may be true. However, the 'natural arm chair' is very much a reality and you could have one this spring!
How does it work? You order this kit, which contains cadboard frames and 100g of grass seeds. You then supply about 240 litres of soil to cover the frame and shape your mound. Then, just water and wait. Soon, you'll have the most 'natural' outdoor furniture. I could see several of these as a nice addition around a campfire or as a place to sit and enjoy the garden.
Now here's the deal: it appears that the site originally selling these kits has lost their supplier. In fact, they're not sure at all when they will be available again. Bummer. But, those of you that love projects might take a look at the cardboard structure and see if you can replicate it. That, or just come up with a cheaper design that helps hold the dirt in whatever shape you have in mind!

Well, I found another site (<a href="http://www.lazyboneuk.com/store/pro132.html">lazybone</a>) selling the chairs, but I suspect they have the same supplier. The <a href="http://www.diynetwork.com/diy/cr_garden_patio/article/0,2025,DIY_13757_5089979,00.html">DIY channel web site</a> has instructions for making a slightly different version, though.

I guess the tags didn't work out so well. I suppose someone could copy and paste them, if they were so inclined!
