Pop And Drop: Bubble Wrap That Biodegrades Into Water

Tesla RoadsterEven today, I still get great joy at finding bubble wrap in some product box I've just opened and taking a minute or two to pop away. Twisting the bubble wrap even gives you that nice machine-gun effect. Anyways, the only problem with bubble wrap (and plastic in general) is its lack of 'return me to the earth' goodness. Sure, there's now some fantastic corn-based products entering the marketplace that help with this issue, but what to do with bubble wrap?

Well, a company called Excel-Aire seems to have solved that issue by introducing a bubble wrap that is oxo-biodegradable. Before such a word makes you stop reading, know this: such an attribute allows the wrap to breakdown into nothing but water, carbon dioxide, and some biomass for mico-organisms.

The entire process is earth-friendly; including the chemical additive that allows the breakdown to proceed. According to the manufacturers website, using such technology in common plastics would allow a product to be used for several months to several years. It strongly depends on it's exposure to oxygen, the catalyst needed to begin the breakdown. As with most trash, the composting would speed up once exposed to landfill conditions: sunny, moist, and warm.

While the website is pretty terrible, you can order some sheets of Bio-Bubble right now for all your packing needs. Drop in some cool eco mailing labels we mentioned previously, and you've got yourself the perfect green mailing solution!
